Popular FAQ About Physiotherapy

We have answers to common questions people ask

What can a physiotherapist do?

A physiotherapist is a highly-trained medical professional who helps in restoring mobility & function, reduce pain and/or prevent disability. In most cases, an intensive physiotherapy plan conducted by a skilled physiotherapist rules out the need for interventional surgery and helps reduce the need for long-term medication.

Do I Need a GP or Orthopaedic doctor referral before I see a Physiotherapist?

No, you don’t need a GP or Ortho referral. You can directly visit a physiotherapist. However, if you have one, you can bring us a copy of the referral letter along with the written report of any X-ray or MRI that is related to your injury.

Will I be expected to do anything in between treatments?

Yes. We provide you with the right exercises to do between visits to ensure your recovery is optimized. You will have access to our exercise prescription and instructions which will outline the specific exercises for your particular condition.

Do You Offer Home Visit Physiotherapy?

Of course, we offer Home Visit Physiotherapy. Please call us for more details.

How long does a treatment session last?

The initial assessment is normally 45 minutes, with follow up sessions lasting 30-45 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

There is no pre-determined number of treatments for a specific condition, but following your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will discuss and agree a treatment plan with you. They should be able to give you an approximate guide at this point.

How long is treatment?

Length of treatment depends on how severe a condition is or the degree of symptoms experienced. It is not medically possible to cure a bone fracture overnight. Similarly, it is not medically possible to repair damaged or weak tissue overnight. The process of reconstructing damaged tissue in bones or soft tissue is similar and everybody recovers at a different rate.
